Katie Fisher

M.A.Ed., M.S., OTRL – Lead OT

Katie graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan, a Master of Arts in Reading and Language Arts from Oakland University, and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Grand Valley State University.

Prior to working for Blossom, Katie was a Kindergarten and First Grade teacher in the Walled Lake School System for 11 years. As a mother of 3, she returned to school after 5 years home to become an Occupational Therapist. Her own daughter, who struggles with SPD, inspired her to seek out this new career.

She continues to love making a difference in children’s lives that do not always fit the societal mold. In all her years of working she has worked one-on-one with children of all ages with a wide variety of disabilities and/or delays including Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Social Emotional Delays, Down Syndrome, Selective Mutism, Developmental Delays, ADD, ADHD, and Learning Disabilities.

Katie has knowledge working with several intervention techniques including Sensory Processing Integration, DIR/Floortime, anxiety in children, ESDM, PRT, and behavioral plans (as a teacher).

Katie has 4 pets at home (1 dog Marlene, 2 cats Cinder and Ash, and a bearded dragon Spike), she loves to drink tea, and could vacation on Lake Michigan beaches every summer.
